If you’re tired of the same old staff night out in the pub, this is the perfect opportunity for a fun-filled, healthy alternative to create camaraderie, foster teamwork and just have a bit of old fashioned craic with your workmates. The Staff Relay Series with PwC takes place from 6pm on 25th May 2017 in Dublin’s Phoenix Park where for just one day of the year nurses take on doctors, bankers size up to brokers and fireman rival Gardaí in competition to be the first team home in Ireland’s favourite corporate relay race.
The concept is simple: 5 people enter as a team, each member runs one leg of a 5km circular route passing the baton to their teammate who continues the next 5km in traditional relay fashion. Finish the final kilometre by racing through the notorious Relay Village where team mates are gathered by the sidelines, cheering you home, offering some final encouragement or perhaps attempting to distract so a rival team can pip you at the finish. 2016’s winning team was from RTÉ whilst teams from the Central Bank, FAI, Workday, Paddy Power and Certus all came within the top 25 finishing times.
Industry wide competition is also evident as rival companies want to obtain bragging rights! But it’s not all for the serious runner either; many companies enter teams of walkers just happy to join in the fun atmosphere, enjoying a healthy activity in the fresh air before settling in to party the night away with their work colleagues. With 5,000 people taking part in this celebration of corporate colleagues it’s easy to see why the Staff Relay Series with PwC is well-known as Ireland’s No. 1 Staff Night Out!
