The Fruit People’s fruity and inventive ways to keep cool this summer
With the hosepipe ban in full effect and bags of ice as rare as gold dust, we’ve come up with a few inventive ways for you and your colleagues to keep cool this summer!
If you haven’t got into the habit of making smoothies, you’re missing out! Not only are they a fantastic way to get a whole range of fruit, vegetables and all the goodness they contain into you, they are also a fantastic way to keep cool with fruit during the heatwave!
Check out this blog post where we shared 4 of our team’s favourite smoothie recipes, all of which use frozen fruit or ice to create a refreshing and nutritious drink.
Between the warm weather, the World Cup and the long stretch in the weekends, you’d be forgiven for craving some cocktails these days! Next time you have a G&T, try substituting the ice cubes for frozen strawberries or blueberries, they will even add a fruity twist to your tipple of choice.
Homemade ice cream
Once you learn how easy it is to make homemade ice-cream, you’ll never look back! Simply blend two frozen bananas, a large spoon of almond butter and a drop of vanilla essence in a good blender until it forms a creamy texture similar to ice-cream. If you are finding it hard to blend you can add a drop of milk or even use a hand blender instead. Add some protein powder (we love hemp protein as a vegetarian option) to take it up a level!
Up your water game
Staying hydrated during the heatwave is incredibly important, but it can also get boring trying to drink litres upon litres of water. Bring your water game to another level by adding slices of lemon, lime and a handful of frozen strawberries, blueberries, apple wedges or whatever you fancy really! It will give a little touch of flavour which will taste delicious and encourage you to drink more, keeping you more hydrated and clear-minded as a result!
This might be the simplest yet most effective way to keep cool this summer. Next time you’re doing your shopping, grab an extra bunch of blueberries and grapes for your freezer. Leave overnight until fully frozen before enjoying these light and refreshing snacks throughout the day. As these fruit are so soft on the inside, they will never become too hard to eat when frozen and will definitely become a go to treat during the summer.
