Canal Clean-Up

The Royal Canal is a popular location for employees and workers situated in its locality. Unfortunately, it can also be prone to littering and dumping, particularly when the weather is nice and the cans come out! There are plenty of Canal Clean-Up groups who would be delighted to have extra hands on deck for their next meetup. This activity will test and challenge your office’s teamwork skills in a real-life application that also helps the environment!

Below is a list of just some of the Canal Clean-Up groups your workplace could join…

Royal Canal Clean-Up
Grand Canal Dock Community Clean-Up

Go Beebomb Planting

‘One-third of all Irish wild bee species are threatened with extinction by 2030.’’

This stat is something we should all be worried about. Thankfully, there are measures we can take that will directly improve this situation!

Beebombs are small seedballs made from clay and compost that attract a range of native bees to their flowers once grown. Beebombsireland.com is a fantastic website where you can learn more about this ancient practice. Even more, they can also deliver beebombs to your workplace. Order a batch, distribute them among your team and head out into your local green space to plant!

Get Involved with TidyTowns

This Government initiative last year celebrated its 60th year and is still going as strong as ever! Looking after and taking care of the community where your workplace is based is a fantastic way to boost morale and encourage teamwork. Helping out with the local TidyTowns group allows your workplace to build relationships with those who live in the area and create goodwill. To start, you can find your local committee and ask them how best your workplace could contribute to their current work.

Join a Clean Coasts Group

Ok ok, we realise a lot of this blog involves cleaning up…but it truly is one of the best activities a group can undertake to help improve our environment! If your business is located near the sea, we highly recommend looking into this great organisation. Not only do Clean Coasts organise beach clean-ups, they are also responsible for grass planting, educating and promoting sites of importance of biodiversity. Check out a list of their existing groups who are always looking for extra volunteers to help out.
