Ah the old Autumn slump! 

With the clocks going back this weekend and the weather taking a turn for the worse, it’s the time of the year that the common cold starts to rear its head.

Particularly in the offices that we visit when we’re doing our fruit delivery runs around Dublin, we see it on a week to week basis. The combo of air con and close proximity is an incubator for cold and flus.

But fear not, research has shown that one of the best ways to fight colds is through diet. Fruit, veg and good old Vitamin D are great ways to ward off any illness worries, and that’s particularly handy if you’re getting fruit delivered to your office doorstep. 

With access to so much fruit, we often like to trial different smoothie ideas. They’re easy to prep the night before, don’t involve much hassle, and if you get the mixture right, can taste great and do great for your body.

Although we do wish someone would invent a self cleaning blender!

Here’s The Fruit People’s tasty cold busting green smoothie…



1 cup spinach
1 cup orange juice
1/2 orange with peel
1/2 cup coconut water (we recommend Vita Coco)
1 banana
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 small apple
1/2 cup ice
1/4 cup natural yoghurt
2 Tablespoon fresh lime or lemon juice (to taste)


Throw all the ingredients into a blender and juice, grab a straw and enjoy.

This is really filling, and can be great with a salad for a healthy lunch. Embrace Autumn
